The making of a Dawa

Posted on June 12, 2013 by Ali Price | 0 Comments

One of my favorite ever cocktails is a dawa, which is made in Kenya and the name translates to "medicine" from Swahili. We served them at our wedding, and they're so delicious and fun to drink.

Ingredients:

2 shots vodka

1 tablespoon honey

a sprinkling of brown sugar

1 lime

ice

stirring stick

Directions:

Cut the lime into quarters, then chop these into thick chunks. Put the lime, brown sugar, and ice into a glass and then add vodka. Then, dip the stirring stick in honey and add it to the glass. Crush the limes with the stick to get the as much juice as you like, and leave the stirring stick in the glass when you serve. Enjoy!
