Eats: Bar Tartine

Bar Tartine is located around 16th and Valencia with no outside labels aside from a small menu taped in the window. It serves up family style shared plates of Eastern European cuisine emphasizing complex and refined ingredients common to the Danube region. Bar Tartine doesn't disappoint with pickles, pasta, dumplings, cultured dairy cheese, yogurt, and sour cream all whipped up in-house. Like pastry haven Tartine Bakery on Guerrero, Bar Tartine explores a variety of high quality breads like steam-baked Vienna loaves and ryes native to Scandinavia. The menu is seasonal and rustic with dishes like roasted kale with rye, pumpkin seeds, and yogurt or farmer's cheese dumplings with red beet sauce and spinach. Don't forget to check out a indie movie at Roxi Theater after your meal! Also try out the sandwich shop for lunch and the popular weekend brunch menu!
