Rose Colored Lake in Australia

Located on Middle Island in Western Australia this tiny, rose colored lake is definitely hard to miss. The shallow briny lake is rimmed with salt and encircled by dark eucalyptus and paperbark trees. Only a narrow shelf of white sand dunes and vegetation separates it from the much larger Southern Ocean. The distinctive bubble gum color of the water is thought to be a result of certain types of algae reacting to the salt content.
