Wanderlust Wednesday: The Galapagos Islands

Posted on May 28, 2014 by Ikuska Sanz | 0 Comments

The Galapagos Islands are a true beauty hidden in plain sight in the Pacific Ocean, west of Ecuador, just a short flight away from Guayaquil.

Did you know that the Galapagos are an Ecuadorian province? However, residency requirements are strict not only for foreigners but also for those coming from mainland Ecuador. This is related to its national park status and the desire to achieve a balance between human development and ecological conservation.

Although the Galapagos are mostly associated with Charles Darwin’s expeditions and research around the theory of evolution, there is so much that this unique landscape offers to the eyes of the visitor, from surfing to volcano hiking and visiting old pirate caves (true pirates!).

Hello Tortuga! Meet the most famous inhabitant of the Islands:
